YangGuoFu, in case you were wondering, Malatang has made a landing here in Artesia centralized around more and more asian establishments. This one has definitely taken a piece out of the puzzle for... what's missing here? What was missing was something new, something unique. While the entrance presents a night-clubish and city-full impression, the sit downs are very simple, casual and comfortable. A self serve bar from sides, main entrees, and sauces cluster upon entry. Just make sure you have a table secured with the cashier/server beforehand before you start collecting up to fill up your tray. The service is pretty straight forward, most of the work lies upon you. Collect the items you need, put it into a bowl and then hand it to the cashier. Which is where they measure it out and tbh, you can get away with a lot for $15-$16 for one bowl, $35 for two very full bowls. I'd say it's mostly on the cheaper side, you just need to play it smart with what you get! This goes especially for the taste, I collected up on; ramen noodles, shu-mai, shrimp balls, fish balls, pork intestines, brown beef tripe, bok choy, napa cabbage, bamboo shoots, bean curd, beef tripe, squid, lamb and beef and enoki mushrooms! All where you tell the cashier what broth you want from; beef bone, tom yum, tomato, spicy and spicy dry. I was feeling a tad under the weather so after sitting for a while, I found all of my chosen foods sitting in a nice warm and cozy tom yum broth.

Overall a solid malatang place! The prices start at $14.99/lb (with a minimum of 0.8lb). You basically grab a bowl and fill it with ingredients of your choice from the self service bar. Then you weigh your bowl and pay after your meal. One thing that was a bummer is that if you get any packaged noodles (ramen or udon), they add it into your bowl when it's weighed, so it's not really worth getting. We ended up getting a side of rice for $2/bowl instead. There's also a sauce bar for you to make your own condiments for dipping. We both got extra mild and the beef bone broth was flavorful with a subtle kick, wouldn't recommend getting a higher spice level if you can't do spicy.

this was my first time trying this kind of food. it was pretty good. it's kind of like a buffet and shabu shabu combined. you put all the ingredients you want in a bowl and they weight your bowl. then you can choose a soup base or get dried noodles (which is what i got). they also have an area for sauces. the only reason why i gave it 4 stars was because yelp said it opened at 5 so my friend and I went at that time, but they asked us to wait until 5:30pm. not sure if the hours on yelp are wrong or the staff wasn't ready. not a huge deal though!

Super easy and straight forward! Pretty clean considering everyone's getting their own ingredients and they were refilling constantly. Medium spicy Mala dry pot had perfect spice for me, and I love spicy food! More flavorful than numbing, which I liked.

I love this place! I originally went to the Arcadia location and the options are great. It's similar to chipotle where you pick the things you want. Then you have the option to pick out all the toppings you want. You pay by weight so make sure you don't pick out too much stuff. I swear they purposefully put out giant bowls so you fill it up and pay more. You then have the option to pick out what broth you want and how spicy you want it. I like the bone broth and medium is a good spice level for me. After picking out food, the cashier weighs the food and you sit down. They'll bring you the food shortly after. The first time I went, the broth wasn't as flavorful. The next time, it was great. This place is great because you can pick out your own food and how you like it.

The food was SO good!!!!!! I tried it about a week ago and I'm still dreaming about the broth. I got sliced beef, intestines, tripe, wide glass noodles, a sausage, and a fish ball and it ended up weighing about 1.7 lbs. The mild broth had the perfect amount of numbing spice and all of the things I picked soaked up a lot of flavor and I didn't need to use any sauces. You start by getting a table and then grabbing your bowl/tongs and grab whatever you want. We came at a somewhat rush hour (Sunday at 6:30 pm) and the line to grab our items was a bit congested. Some of the people in line are impatient and will push you to get their precious cabbage so you just have to stand your ground. You give the person at the register your table number, weigh your bowl, they give you a number, and bring your bowl when it's ready. I was surprised to see that you pay after you're finished eating. The restaurant is super clean and service was great. I was worried that I would end up with a $50 bowl but I had a good amount of ingredients and it was $25. I would definitely come back!
